Darren Campbell
Director at Capgemini

I have spent the last 7 years building and transforming functions across Capgemini. Prior to this I spent 15 years performing a variety of Client Consulting roles, which ranged from Project Manager to Chief Technology Officer. I have always had a passion for social equality and have played an active role in community development initiatives thorough my entire adult life, with a big focus on supporting schools and individuals from economically challenges areas. I truly believe that we need more equality in the World, which is one of Genesis Sun’s ambitions. Our ability to drive growth and progress as a society can also be significantly enhanced if we proactively search for diverse talent, give them access to ‘hidden’ opportunities and ‘polish the abundance of rough diamonds’ that exist. Increased diversity brings different perspectives, which subsequently results in more innovation and opportunities for economic advancement. We essentially need to look in different places for such talent, whilst we also need to empower these individuals and leverage the power of role models to fully unleash their potentials!

CEO of Jumar

When Diane Spence contacted me to share her plans for Genesis Sun, I instinctively knew it was something I wanted to be involved in. My childhood upbringing would now be described as social mobility, growing up in an environment of no educational encouragement, money or career aspirations. I was able to conquer this because I had people in the workplace that believed in me and encouraged me to break boundaries that I would never have done without their support. At Genesis Sun we work together to create an environment in which marginalised groups can grow, be confident in breaking their own perceived boundaries and encourage them to reach for the stars. Our ambitions at Genesis Sun offer both an opportunity and the platform to unlock the talents of under-represented students and communities and show them through unique programmes that everything is achievable. At Genesis Sun we recognise there are new generations of young black talent to be nurtured and supported through a programme of education, role models and practical support to be successful.

Rosemary Campbell-Stephens
MBE Speaker, Author

Some may define me as an edgy keynote speaker in my areas of expertise and passion - namely leadership. My current interests center around amplifying discussions on how a Global Majority mindset can positively disrupt narratives by asking questions about the underlying perspectives, philosophies and paradigms that drive all spheres of public life. One of my roles include speaking, writing and delivering leadership development programmes for clients across the globe. The work transcends discussions about representation and focuses on reframing leadership purpose from a Global Majority perspective.

My book, Educational Leadership and the Global Majority Decolonising Narratives, was published in 2021 and contains some big ideas worth talking about. In 2016, I was awarded an MBE for thirty-five years' service to education in the United Kingdom. I am truly proud to represent as a member on the Genesis Sun board. The modern pedological method being delivered is admirable and it’s wonderful to be part of this pioneering approach which is set to help so many and transform education levels and spirits for under-represented groups.

Nick Baxter
CEO Baxter Williams

My background before industry was dominated by professional rugby. After graduating in Business Studies & Marketing I played for Worcester Warriors where I represented England Students, England 7’s and the Barbarians. Unsurprisingly, I have a passion for all things "team" and "network" and 6 years ago, I founded Baxter Williams a consultancy that specialises in recruitment, employee engagement and team building. I am incredibly fortunate to possess an extensive and trusted network based on my involvement in rugby and business. Unfortunately, not everyone who shared the same start in life as me have the access to such networks and the associated opportunities.
As a result, at every opportunity I pride myself on seeking ways to champion social equality and raising the profile, access, and education of opportunities across diverse sections of the community.
“I believe if you can see it, you can be it” and positive role models are key to elevating the ambition and belief of our young generation to strive to be the very best versions of themselves.
I am incredibly passionate about the great work that Genesis Sun has been conducting across the most diverse communities in the Midlands and look forward to being able to add significant value in my role on the non-executive board.

Innovation & Leadership

As a business technologist who has worked in many industry sectors over my career, I have extensive experience ranging from start-up companies to global corporations. My podcast WB-40 is focused on issues surrounding technology and how it is managed. My experience with technology teams has taught me that diversity builds much stronger products, and I have worked to build more varied teams over the years including pushing for apprentices and promoting women in technology. Likewise, my work in the criminal justice sector has given me an insight into the damage caused by digital exclusion across many communities. I am proud to sit on the Genesis Sun board and help the team improve the educational and life chances of marginalised groups across the UK.

Arvind Batra
Careers Leader

I have been working with young people for over 20 years, adding value to their education through partnerships, community and businesses. More recently my work has been leading the World Beyond School commitment for the RSA Family of Academies Trust exploring social action and student leadership. I now work as a Careers Leader and advisor for Gospel Oak School in Tipton, ensuring our young people fulfil their ambitions and are prepared for the world beyond school. Social mobility and social justice are the values that are fundamental to a fairer society. Why should any young person be disadvantaged because of where they were born, and who to? We have a duty to support young people to navigate in this world, whether that be as individuals or as businesses and organisations. I am so pleased to be supporting and working with Genesis Sun in their mission to improve life-opportunities for under-represented young people. I would love to see more schools getting involved with everything Genesis Sun has to offer.

Andy Holmes
Director Of Commercial Services

Having worked with Diane Spence in the technology industry for several years, I am honoured to be asked to sit on the board of such a valuable enterprise and one which is run with such passion and drive. My varied career background in media and technology has given me first-hand experience of the challenges that Genesis Sun is looking to tackle, and the ways in which they can be confronted. From my early days as a journalist and News Editor covering issues in inner-city Birmingham, through to my present position of Commercial Director for a global IT business where I have responsibility for the company’s Social Value portfolio, I have a thorough appreciation of how the corporate world can be instrumental in narrowing the digital skills gap and reducing economic inequality.
